Beginning in the spring of 2015, Vermont will transition to the Smarter Balanced Assessment System, a new computer-delivered testing program developed by Vermont and its partner states in the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC).
Creating and maintaining a positive school climate combined with a sustained school crisis planning process are the keys to ensuring Vermont's schools continue to be a safe environment where our children can learn and grow. We must continue to leverage existing resources within our schools and foster positive working relationships with our local emergency responders and other internal and external stakeholders to ensure we are prepared to respond to any emergency that may impact our children and our communities.
The Common Core State Standards are learning goals for mathematics and English language arts/literacy that identify what students should know, understand, and be able to do at each grade level. They provide teachers, parents, and students with a set of clear expectations for the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in college, career, and life upon graduation from high school.
