SCHOOL DATA & REPORTS:
PUBLIC SCHOOL GRADUATION REPORT:
FY 2001 GRADUATION REPORT

Organized by high school, the graduation rate is calculated by dividing the number of promoted 12th-graders by the adjusted 12th-grade enrollment. Data are presented for each Vermont high school.

PURPOSE
""

The FY 2001 School Graduations Report presents and summarizes information on students graduating from Vermont secondary schools during the 2000-2001 school year.

METHODOLOGY
""

Data included in this report were collected in the Register Data Collection Survey conducted during July 2001. Only students graduating from Grade 12 were used in the calculation of graduation rates. This report includes data from the five independent schools: Bellows Free Academy, Burr & Burton, Lyndon Institute, St. Johnsbury Academy and Thetford Academy.

To calculate the graduation rate, an adjusted enrollment count for twelfth graders is first derived by adding the number of students in Grade 12 reported at the end of the year as having been promoted, receiving a GED, not promoted, and dropped out during the summer of 2000 or during the 2000-2001 school year. Transfers and deaths are not included. The number of students reported in the promoted category in Grade 12 is then divided by the adjusted enrollment. The resulting graduation rate represents the percentage of twelfth graders who graduated from high school.

The graduation rate is presented for each Vermont High School listed in the order of Supervisory Unions.

Promoted Twelfth Graders = Numerator

Twelfth Grade Adjusted Enrollment* = Denominator

* Adjusted Enrollment = Students Promoted + Receiving a GED + Not Promoted
+ School year dropouts + Preceding summer dropouts.
