NONPROFIT VERMONT EDUCATIONAL PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS

The Department of Education works closely and collaboratively with a number of organizations that share its mission, or at least aspects of it. These programs align closely and work in concert with department programs to deliver high-quality resources and opportunities to Vermont’s educators. The center works collaboratively with schools, communities and institutions of higher education in preparing professionals to help youth make healthy choices and reduce risk-taking behavior.
   
  Governor's Institutes of Vermont  (GIV)Clicking this link will open a new browser window and take you off the department's Web site.  
The Governor's Institutes of Vermont offer motivated Vermont high school students intensive educational experiences on Vermont college campuses. These summer programs, which emphasize experiential learning and subsequent community involvement, are offered in arts; Asian cultures; current issues and youth activism; education; engineering, math and computer science; information technology; and science and technology.

PIRC Vermont is part of a national network of 62 federally-funded PIRCS. PIRC Vermont provides free support, information and trainings to parents, educators and administrators across the state in order to increase parental involvement with all families. Specifically, assistance can be provided with parent involvement policies, home-school compacts or the creation of a resource room for families within the school. PIRC Vermont shares researched based resources and models on how to include all families in supporting their children’s education. PIRC Vermont is a project of the Vermont Family Network.

This site provides data and other information about towns across Vermont. The Center for Rural Studies (CRS) is a nonprofit, fee-for-service research organization that addresses social, economic and resource-based problems of rural people and communities. Based in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at the University of Vermont (UVM), CRS provides consulting, research and program evaluation services in Vermont, the United States and abroad.

A nonprofit, charitable corporation, VITA-Learn’s mission is to promote and encourage the use of information technology to meet Vermont's educational goals and standards.

VI works with Vermont's schools and communities to transform science, mathematics, and technology education in order to improve the learning and the skills of all students.

Vermont Partnership for Fairness & Diversity creates educational programs and learning environments to acquire strategies and skills that are increasingly necessary in our interdependent world. These programs include Strategies to Thrive!, which nurtures youth leadership development, delivers multicultural education programs and offers post-secondary school scholarship aid research; Training/Capacity Building sharpens awareness, skills, policies and resources to comply with state and federal discrimination laws, Vermont anti-harassment/ bullying in education laws (Act 91 and Act 117), how to recruit, hire and retain a diverse workforce and how to create and sustain an inclusive and equitable workplace.
   
  Vermont Teacher Diversity Scholarship Program (VTDSP)Clicking this link will open a new browser window and take you off the department's Web site.  
The VTDSP is a state-wide loan forgiveness program that recruits students from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds to become Vermont public school teachers. The program accepts applications twice a year from high school seniors, current college students, members of the immigrant/refugee population and adults looking to embark on a new career.
