  ERIC - the Education Resources Information Center
An online digital library of education research and information sponsored by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES)
of the U.S. Department of Education. ERIC provides access to an expansive body of education literature (1966-present) to support the use of educational research and information to improve practice in learning, teaching, educational decision-making, and research.
   
  Center for Health and Learning
The center works collaboratively with schools, communities and institutions of higher education in preparing professionals to help youth make healthy choices and reduce risk-taking behavior.
   
  Federal Resources for Educational Excellence
Hundreds of education resources supported by agencies across the U.S. government. Resources cover student activities, research and materials for most subjects and grade levels.
   
  Model Policies
Model policies provide guidance, direction and recommended standards to help school administrators develop general school policy statements. At times, the agency is specifically tasked by the Vermont State Board of Education or the Vermont Legislature to create model policies that address specific issues related to students and schools. Other recommended and/or mandatory policies are developed by the Vermont School Boards Association, often in conjunction with agency staff.

Supporting Military Kids During Deployment
When military personnel are mobilized, their children are in need of and deserve special support from local schools and communities. A significant portion of stability in their family system has temporarily disrupted resulting in increased levels of stress and potential separation anxiety. As a result, these military kids are in need of heightened understanding and support for professionals in local school building where they spend a large portion of their day.

The Vermont Council on Economic Education assists teachers, principals, superintendents, and school boards in their efforts to ensure that Vermont students understand the economic world around them and become successful participants in the local, state, national, and world economies.
   
 

Vermont Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) for 2009
Every two years since 1993, the Department of Health's Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Programs and the agency have sponsored the Vermont Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS). The YRBS measures the prevalence of behaviors that contribute to the leading causes of death, disease and injury among youth. The YRBS is part of a larger effort to help communities increase the “resiliency” of young people by reducing high risk behaviors and promoting healthy behaviors. View links to:

   
  Vermont's Odyssey of the Mind Program
Vermont's Odyssey of the Mind
T program focuses on helping students develop divergent, out-of-the-box thinking skills. Teams of students work for several months to solve challenging, but fun, long-term problems in a range of subject areas. Students also practice creatively solving a variety of shorter, spontaneous problems. Long-term problem team solutions are judged at regional and state tournaments. Teams placing first advance to the Odyssey of the MindT World Finals competition.
   
  VITA-Learn: Vermont Information Technology Association for the Advancement of Learning
VITA-Learn is a statewide organization for people interested in supporting the integration of information technology in Vermont schools.
