GED TESTING & TRANSCRIPTS
(Updated 1/17/08)
|
| |
|
|
The General
Educational Development (GED) tests include five exams that, when successfully passed,
provide adults who did not finish high school with a second opportunity to earn a
high school completion credential. Employers, the military, colleges and technical
educators and institutions recognize and accept the GED. The tests are designed to
measure and represent the knowledge, skills and understanding that current high school
seniors learn from their high school education.

REQUIREMENTS
FOR TAKING THE TEST
 |
| |

Taking the
Test
GED testing services (including study and tutoring assistance) are available
throughout the state. Find the testing center nearest you by clicking on the county
you live in on the map.
Testing
Schedules and Testing Requirements
Each sites' testing schedule is available by calling the site directly and is often
published in the newspaper. Most sites test at least twice each month and students
are able to travel to other sites should they want to test more often.
- In order
to take the test you must pre-register by calling the site contact number. Click
on the appropriate county on the map for contact information.
- You must be at
least 16 years old (individuals 16 and 17 years of age require the written permission
of a parent or guardian).
- The cost per
test is $12.
- You must bring
photo identification and pencils when you come to test.
- Scrap paper
is available at the test site.
Scoring
the Tests
Completed test sheets for the language arts - part I, mathematics, science and social
studies are forwarded to the Montpelier office for scoring.
The essay portion
of the test for language arts - part II is mailed to Oklahoma Scoring Services for
scoring, a process that takes about two weeks. The essay score is then forwarded
to the Montpelier GED office, where it is added to the other test scores. Final scores
are tabulated on a pass/fail basis. Examinees should expect to receive their scores
within three weeks.
