Health Education Resource Centers (HERCs)
The department operates regional HERCs throughout the state. These centers maintain a variety of pre-K-12 health education materials available to currently practicing school- and community-based health educators. Legal & Technical Resources Related to Life-Threatening Chronic Allergies and Illnesses in Schools (Act 158)
This letter is the department's annual notification to all school districts informing them of their responsibilities regarding students with life-threatening allergies and chronic illnesses. This document contains information that may help schools in assessing and addressing the needs of students with life threatening allergies and chronic illnesses. A chart of live links to legal and technical resources and department contact numbers is also included. |

The center works collaboratively with schools, communities and institutions of higher education in preparing professionals to help youth make healthy choices and reduce risk-taking behavior.

The Center for Disease Control's (CDC) DASH program focuses on preventing the most serious health risk behaviors among children, adolescents, and young adults.
