Media relations and many
public information inquiries are handled through the department's communications
team. This team serves as the initial point of contact for questions from reporters
and journalists from print media, radio and television. Internally, this team works
with department personnel to coordinate contact with all media, including the development
of press releases, tracking articles and news stories that appear in the media and
tracking staff contact with the media. General inquiries from the public are also
often directed through this team. |

School Funding Workshop for Media and Other Education Partners
Bill Talbott, Chief Financial Officer for the Vermont Department of Education, held a free workshop for Vermont news media and other education partners on school funding in November 2005. Department Finance Team staff addressed the Vermont school funding system, how to report on school budgets with an understanding of the factors and terms, how school budgets relate to school property taxes and how to understand and utilize Department of Education school funding publications in media reporting. |
