PROGRAMS & SERVICES:
PREVENTION AND INTERVENTION PROGRAMS
FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH WHO ARE NEGLECTED, DELINQUENT OR AT-RISK

OVERVIEW

This program team helps coordinate programs that improve educational services for children and youth in local and state institutions for neglected or delinquent children and youth. Funded under Title I, Part D, the program aims to provide:

  • Educational opportunities for neglected, delinquent, and at-risk children and youth to meet the same challenging state academic content standards and academic achievement standards that all children are expected to meet;
  • Services needed to help these children and youth make successful transitions from institutionalization to further schooling or employment;
  • Programs and support to prevent at-risk youth from dropping out of school; and
  • Support systems to encourage dropouts and children or youth returning from correctional facilities or institutions for neglected or delinquent youth to continue their education.
