Act 145 Report (Act 145: An Act Relating to Use of Vermont Products and Nutrition Education in Schools)
This document provides information about the number of school districts that have or have not adopted a wellness policy and a detailed review of the adopted policies from a minimum of 10% of the schools that reported having a policy in place. All schools that receive federal funds for breakfast and/or lunch programs were required to adopt a wellness policy by the beginning of the 2006-2007 school year. |

Small Farms/School Meals Initiative: A Step-by-Step Guide on How to Bring Small Farms and Local Schools Together (PDF)
A comprehensive approach to connecting small farms to the school meal programs began in the summer of 1997. At that time, the Small Farms/School Meals Initiative, popularly called the “farm-to-school” initiative, started. This initiative—which is based on the cooperation of federal, state and local governments, as well as local farm and educational organizations—encourages small farmers to sell fresh fruits and vegetables to schools and schools to buy this wholesome produce from small farmers. |

Team Nutrition is an initiative of the USDA Food and Nutrition Service to support the Child Nutrition Programs through training and technical assistance for foodservice, nutrition education for children and their caregivers, and school and community support for healthy eating and physical activity. |
