Program & Local Plan Design & Approval Information
- Program Approval
In order for the programs to be offered for students at Vermont's regional technical centers and comprehensive high schools, approval must be granted. Use this link to view a description of the process and available checklists.
- Approved Competency Lists
Competencies are derived from a collaboration between education and industry and reflect what a student should know and be able to do within a specified scope of a career field. Students demonstrate the acquisition of these competencies through an array of assessments occurring throughout the learning process including portfolio, performance, and structured observation assessments.
- Classification of Instructional Program (CIP) CodesPDF
In this table, career clusters, pathways, occupational codes and CIP codes are cross referenced to provide a unified system. Using this crosswalk, standard labor market data can be aligned to instructional programs. Programs with diverse names but addressing the same learning standards can be organized within this data structure.

Cooperative education programs establish and maintain strong collaborations (partnerships, associations) between secondary education and key members of industry. In Vermont, cooperative education is composed of four work-based learning categories: job shadow, career work experience, cooperative technical education and student apprenticeship. Use this link to view information designed to help cooperative education coordinators, students and parents get a better grasp on all that is involved with successfully establishing a cooperative education program. |
