Smarter Balanced Assessments

The Agency recently released Smarter Balanced Assessment results from the first administration of the test, and is now shifting  focus toward helping parents, educators and community members understand and use the results responsibly to help children achieve. During the week of October 19, 2015, Agency assessment staff and representatives from American Institutes for Research (AIR), the state’s assessment contractor, provided trainings in four locations around the state designed to help educators and school leaders become familiar with the resources available on the state’s Online Reporting System and what the can and cannot tell us about our schools and our students.

The workshops began with a video conversation on assessment with Secretary Holcombe and her deputies, Amy Fowler and Heather Bouchey. Watch the video to the right or download the Regional Workshop Presentation.
