Kindergarten Conference: The Arts as a Tool for Learning

The Vermont Agency of Education, the Early Childhood PreK-3 Program at the University of Vermont, and VAEYC invite you to participate in the 25th Annual Kindergarten Conference. It will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017, at the Hilton in Burlington. The theme of this year’s conference is nurturing imagination and learning through the arts. Vermont Science Initiative Science and Engineering Academy

Date:  August 6-11, 2017

Times: Sunday 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.; Monday & Tuesday 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Wednesday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.;  Plus three school year follow up dates TBD

Location: Lyndon State College, Lyndonville, VT

Cost: $1,240, includes four credits

The Vermont Science Initiative (VSI) is offering sustained support for K-8 teachers through a combination of a summer institute focusing on life science and engineering, three follow-up days, sustained support through on-site team meetings (PLCs), and additional content through the NSTA Learning Center, teachers will deepen their understanding of science and engineering content and best instructional practices and earn 4 graduate credits. Vermont Science Initiative NGSS Science Leader Program

Date:  July 9-14, 2017

Times: Sunday 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.;  Monday and Tuesday 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Wednesday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.;  Plus three school year follow up dates TBD

Location: Lyndon State College, Lyndonville

The Vermont Science Initiative (VSI) NGSS Science Leadership Program will help build in-house capacity for science professional development. The program will develop science education leaders across Vermont who can support other teachers in understanding the shifts in the NGSS by facilitating professional development in their own supervisory union/district using the research-based Next Generation Science Exemplar System for professional learning (NGSX).  Kicks off with a summer institute July 9-14, 2017.  Stipend, use of materials and NGSX, and ongoing support as leaders implement the PD is provided. Digging Deep Expert Series with Dr. Karin Hess

Date: November 29, 2016

Location: Woodstock Inn, Woodstock, VT

This series is designed for educators and school teams to join together to deeply examine assessment systems in their schools to support the implementation of the Vermont Education Quality Standards. Dr.  Karin Hess is a recognized international leader in developing practical approaches for using cognitive rigor and learning progressions as the foundation for formative, interim, and performance assessments. She is excited to share her expertise in her home state of Vermont.  The first day of this year's series is November 29, 2016 in Woodstock, VT.
