Supporting School Nurse Leadership in Vermont Schools- Grant Opportunity- Deadline Extended
Audience: School Nurses, Superintendents, Principals
The Vermont Department of Health is pleased to announce a ten-month grant opportunity beginning in the 2022-2023 academic school year. The Health Department's Division of Maternal and Child Health is seeking proposals from eligible Vermont-based Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to provide funds to be used to support school nurse leadership and high-quality school health services. Up to twelve LEA proposals will be awarded. The selected LEAs will receive $79,000 each. The anticipated grant period will be Sept. 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023. Proposals must be submitted by end of the day on July 15, 2022. Please see the Electronic Bulletin Board posting for more details. Vermont Family Network Free Workshop: “Special Education Rule Changes - What does this Mean for Families?”
Vermont Special Education Rule Changes were scheduled to take effect July 2022. However, the Vermont Legislature passed Education Bill H.716, which includes a one-year partial delay of the Special Education Rules. The changes that will take effect this year are the definition of special education services and increased parent voice in the individualized educational plan process. The rule changes involving adverse effects and the addition of functional performance and the elimination of the discrepancy model will be delayed until July 2023. The presenter for this workshop is Cammie M. Naylor (she/her), MSW, Esq. She is a Staff Attorney with the Disability Law Project at Vermont Legal Aid, Inc. 2022-2023 Vermont Superintendents Association Leadership Academy
The Vermont Superintendents Association (VSA) invites school leaders with an interest in exploring service as a school superintendent to consider enrolling in the VSA Superintendents Leadership Academy. The Academy will run from September 2022 to June 2023 and includes nine day-long sessions focused on providing professional insights and skill development pertinent to the duties of the school superintendent. Participants are generally education leaders with an interest in becoming a superintendent and who have relevant experience in another senior leadership position. The Annual Rowland Conference: Earlybird Registration

Improving Educational Practices with Technology: For All K-12 Educators
This summer, take time to intentionally integrate technology into your teaching. The three-credit, online course, Improving Educational Practices with Technology, is an opportunity to plan ahead, apply best practices and have fun learning with colleagues. Instructors will coach participants at every skill level to design learning activities and formative assessments that support student creativity, collaboration and reflection, as well as improve teacher efficiency. By harnessing a variety of educator tools including Docs, Drive, Sites, Forms, Classrooms, Canvas, WeVideo and Screencastify, participants will integrate newly acquired skills to current or new units of study. Throughout the course, participants will have ample time to practice, plan and discuss. Course dates are August 8-12, 2022.

Summer Course for Educators at Bennington Museum

Professional Learning: Wilson Language Training Courses and Workshops Available This Summer, Including Fundations and Just Words
Registration is now open for Wilson Training courses and workshops offered through the Stern Center for Language and Learning. Fundations® Levels K-3 Workshops cover the five main areas of reading instruction with an emphasis on systematic phonics and word structure. Just Words® is a highly explicit, multisensory decoding and spelling program for students in grades 4–12. Wilson Reading System® Introductory Course provides educators with an overview of the Wilson Reading System ® (WRS) 4th Edition curriculum and serves as the prerequisite for WRS Level I Certification. Professional Learning: New Teacher Retention
Registration is open for Supporting Beginning Teachers with Dr. Tina Boogren. This will take place virtually on August 18, 2022, from 3:15-4:45 p.m. Effectively supporting beginning teachers is crucial for both retention and developing expertise in relation to student achievement. Dr. Boogren will guide leaders, coaches and mentors in specific ways to support them. This course includes her book: Boogren: Supporting Beginning Teachers. Mentors can add this session to our Beginning Teacher Cohort Series.
