Financial Literacy - Professional Development
Audience: Superintendents, Administrators, Curriculum Directors, CTE Directors, CTE Educators, Middle and High School Educators
Teach Financial Literacy is a free online three-graduate credit course being offered by Champlain College's Center for Financial Literacy from May 6 to June 28, 2024. Twenty graduate course scholarships are available for middle and high school educators from New England and New York. Scholarship applications must be submitted and completed prior to April 25, 2024. Teachers who complete the training will have the confidence, skills and curriculum tools to successfully bring financial literacy topics into their classrooms. Framework for Proficiency: Revision & Implementation
Audience: Superintendents, Curriculum Directors, Principals, and Educators
Join the Proficiency-Based Learning Team for a three-part webinar Series on the Framework for Proficiency. Throughout this series, participants will gain insights into the revision of the Framework for Proficiency in its second iteration. Additionally, attendees will learn strategies for adopting or adapting the high school Proficiency-Based Graduation Requirements to create equity and coherence across the state, utilizing the AOE’s model to refine what they already have in place. Arts Education and Proficiency-Based Learning
Audience: Dance, Music, Theater and, Visual Arts Educators
This workshop is designed for arts educators aiming to align their practice with National Arts Standards through the Framework for Proficiency-Based Learning. Participants will utilize the Vermont Framework for Proficiency to integrate arts education seamlessly while ensuring alignment with national standards. By the end of the workshop, educators will be equipped with strategies and tools to enhance their instruction, fostering student growth and achievement in the arts. This is an in-person offering at the CAPS building in Montpelier on Friday, June 7, 2024, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Register for the workshop today.

Family Engagement Networking Series
Audience: Family Engagement Personnel, Homeless Liaisons, Administrators
Please join the Family Engagement Networking Series facilitated by the AOE Vermont Multi-tiered System of Supports (VTmtss) Team. The next Networking Session on April 10, 2024, from 1-2 p.m., will focus on a Strength Based Reflection and Assessment on this School Year’s Family Engagement. We will discuss the skills you bring to this work, along with successes, opportunities, priorities and hopes for the end of the year. These are informal monthly virtual sessions for family engagement colleagues to connect and discuss problems of practice regarding family engagement. Sessions are held every second Wednesday from 1-2 p.m.

Act 166 Universal Prekindergarten Turns 10

In celebration of the 10th anniversary of Act 166 Universal Prekindergarten (UPK) Education (2014-2024), the Agency of Education (AOE) Early Education team is issuing monthly special editions of their e-newsletter, UPK Café. UPK Café Special Edition Issue 1 details the history of prekindergarten education in Vermont, culminating in the passing of Act 166 Universal Prekindergarten Education. UPK Café Special Edition Issue 2 covers the continued implementation of Vermont Early Multi-tiered System of Supports (Early MTSS) framework model across all early care and learning settings for promoting positive outcomes for each and every child.

Expiration of AOE ECE/ECSE Provisional Licenses for Private PreK Educators
Audience: Superintendents, UPK Coordinators and School Administrators
The Vermont Standards Board for Professional Educators approved the expiration of the AOE ECE/ECSE issued provisional license waiver for private PreK educators on June 30, 2025. No new applications will be accepted effective April 1, 2024. Supports and mentoring will continue for private PreK educators who hold provisional licenses expiring June 30, 2025.
