Spring Issue of Literary Learning: Vermont’s Newsletter for English Language Arts Educators
Audience: English Language Arts and Literacy Teachers, Literacy Coaches, Interventionists
The spring issue of the quarterly newsletter, Literary Learning, is now available. This issue contains articles about adolescent literacy intervention and the importance of writing across the curriculum as well as resources and information about upcoming professional learning opportunities. The spring issue also features an article by a member of the PCG content development team for the literacy modules, describing the modules as an excellent professional learning opportunity to engage in over the summer. Be sure to subscribe to the Agency’s ELA listserv in order to stay informed about ELA and literacy in Vermont.

Webinar Recording Available - EOPs for Independent Schools
Audience: Approved and Recognized independent School Heads, Staff Involved in the Development and/or Execution of an All-Hazards EOP
The recording of the Emergency Operation Plans (EOPs) for Independent Schools webinar in now available on the AOE Act 29 website (under "EOP" and "Independent Schools" sections), along with the meeting slide deck. Topics included a review of the available resources and recommended training schedule for approved and recognized independent schools as they engage in Emergency Operations Planning, statutory requirements related to EOPs for independent schools, how to prepare teams, and how the VSSC EOP Template and VSSC EOP Guide interact and support work in EOP development.

Implementation of Revised Health and Physical Education SHAPE Standards Questionnaire
Audience: Physical Education and Health Education Educators, Curriculum Directors
The Agency of Education (AOE) is working to develop resources and supports for the implementation of the newly revised Health and Physical Education standards from SHAPE America. In order to meet the needs of educators, health and physical education educators are being asked to fill out the following questionnaire(s) for their specific subject and grade areas: Health Elementary, Health Middle/High, Physical Education Elementary and Physical Education Middle/High. The data from these questionnaires will be reviewed by a group of educators and members of the AOE to help form statewide model K-12 Proficiency-Based Graduation Requirements, Critical Proficiencies, and Priority Performance Indicators.

Maple Run Unified School District (MRUSD) is the featured Family and Community Engagement Highlight. MRUSD exemplars partnering with their communities, supporting the success of students, and creating a welcoming environment. Learn about their Strategic Planning Forum, STEAM Family Engagement Night and services provided for community members at the Northwest Career and technical Center. Additional new resources on the AOE Parent, Family, and Community Engagement web page include a Newcomer Toolkit, and other resources related to multilingual learner/immigrant/refugee families, Handling With Care, a toolkit for family and caregivers of LGBTQ+ youth, and a Family Engagement Learning Series hosted by the US Department of Education.

Provisional License Reports
Audience: Superintendents and Designees
Please submit your Provisional License Reports to Ronald Ryan by Friday, May 31, 2024. More detailed directions on how to create and complete the report using the ALiS online licensing system are posted on our website. Creating the Provisional Licensing Report includes a link to our video tutorial which demonstrates how to complete the report using your online ALiS account.
