"School Feeding During a Disaster" Training Video
Audience: Superintendents, Principals, School Crisis Planning Team Members
"School Feeding During a Disaster” is designed to inform School administrators about the resources that are available to assist in feeding students and others in their community when dealing with an immediate or long-term feeding need after a disaster. Rosie Krueger, from the Agency of Education’s Child Nutrition Program, details information and provides resources that are available to schools when dealing with the short- and long-term effects of a disaster.

Digging Deep Expert Series with Dr. Karin Hess

This series is designed for educators and school teams to join together to deeply examine assessment systems in their schools to support the implementation of the Vermont Education Quality Standards. Dr. Karin Hess is a recognized international leader in developing practical approaches for using cognitive rigor and learning progressions as the foundation for formative, interim, and performance assessments. She is excited to share her expertise in her home state of Vermont. The first day of this year's series is November 29, 2016 in Woodstock, VT.

What If Wednesday
Audience: Superintendents, Principals, School Crisis Planning Team Members
The “What if Wednesday” school safety initiative is designed to stimulate a conversation about school emergency preparedness. Participants should read the summary of the “fictional” school safety incident and then answer the multiple choice question with the appropriate response action to be taken for the specific emergency. All responses are anonymous but please click "submit" when finished.

This year's theme of Flexible Pathways for Young Adolescents stems from knowing the nature and needs of this age group and from Vermont's recent adoption of Act 77 - creating Personalized Learning Plans (PLPs), Proficiency Based Assessments and Flexible Pathways for all middle and high school students. Emotional Intelligence: Building Personal Competence for Success
At the core of emotional intelligence is knowing yourself. Emotional intelligence can be developed and improved no matter how old you are, and the stronger your skills, the greater your chance for success. See the Forest Through the Trees: Executive Function
This one-day workshop is offered by the Stern Center for Language and Learning and is designed for teachers, special educators, and reading specialists who want to learn more about how executive function affects reading skills.
