Purpose: Please join the new VTmtss Office Hours series facilitated by the Agency of Education (AOE) Vermont Multi-tiered System of Supports (VTmtss) Team. The series will focus on VTmtss updates, tools, processes, and systems to support the field and built-in Question and Answer time, with the theme of relationship building woven within each session. Some upcoming topics include: Harassment, Hazing, and Bullying (HHB) Rule 4500 forms and requirements, review of VTmtss survey data analysis and application to decision-making, Educational Support Teams (EST) processes, and more.

Topics for VTmtss Office Hours Series, School Year 2024-2025
September 19, 2024 – Harassment, Hazing, and Bullying (HHB), Rule 4500, Exclusionary Discipline Forms and Processes
This session will focus on rules, regulations and guidelines, conditions on reporting, review of forms updates, and the holistic, restorative approach VTmtss uses when receiving this information.
October 17, 2024 – Educational Support Teams (EST)
This session will focus on a high-level review of the EST process as well as a detailed overview of guidelines for secondary school environments. Facilitators will explore options of school, district/supervisory union technical assistance and support.
November 21, 2024 – VTmtss Survey Data Analysis and Results - Application of Data in Decision-Making
During this session, the VTmtss Team will share analysis and results from the VTmtss Survey (School Year 2023-2024) and share thoughts about how this data might be used in data-informed decision-making processes to improve systems.
January 16, 2025 - Section 504
This Office Hours will focus on a review of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 law and related school practices. The session will highlight recent Section 504 guidance from the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights (OCR).
February 20, 2025 – Collaborate and Connect: VTmtss Office Hours
This informal Office Hours provides supportive space for educators to gather and discuss VTmtss strategies, explore best practices, and engage in conversations about how to implement and scale VTmtss for systemic change in educational systems. Whether you are new to the VTmtss framework or looking to deepen knowledge, this session will help foster meaningful discussions on data-driven decision-making, tiered interventions, and the ongoing pursuit of equity in education.
March 20, 2025 - Building Capacity in Systems Improvement Efforts: Focusing on Effective Collaboration Within the VTmtss Framework
This Office Hours will focus on building systemic capacity through the second VTmtss Framework Component: Effective Collaboration (EC). Effective collaboration is defined as ‘the systematic process of working interdependently in an atmosphere of trust to accomplish collective commitments’. This session will highlight examples of specific practices to foster trust, elevate expertise, and develop common language to build systemic capacity. Participants will explore strengths and opportunities for effective collaboration in their own educational systems and broader community (including families and external partners) and will identify at least one action step to bring back to their teams.
