CACFP New Manager's Training

This training is a great opportunity for new directors, managers, cooks or any other CACFP staff to receive in depth training regarding CACFP. Participants will learn about recordkeeping, determining income eligibility, expense logs, claims submission, sponsorship responsibilities, menu planning, meal production records, portion size, meal service, basic kitchen, and food safety requirements. It is also a great refresher course for anyone who has participated in the program for many years. BEST Plus 2.0

Registration for the BEST Plus 2.0 assessment training for new administrators is now open.

This training will prepare participants to administer the BEST Plus 2.0 assessment of English language proficiency of adult English language learners.

Date: Friday, December 1, 2017

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. with a lunch break. PLEASE BRING A BAG LUNCH.

Location: Vermont Agency of Education, Barre, Room 423 (4th Floor)

Note: Space is limited.

Who should attend?

  • Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) staff who have never been certified to administer the assessment before, but need to assess the speaking and listening skills of English language learners.
  • AEL staff who had been certified to administer the assessment previously, but did not maintain certification by attending a Refresher. Those who attended the Refresher in May of 2017 do not need to attend this training, but are welcome to come for practice and review.
  • Migrant education staff, refugee resettlement staff or others who have never been certified to administer the assessment or who would like a review. On a space available basis after AEL staff have registered.

AEL staff: please register by November 17, 2017 in DataWorks.

CACFP New Meal Pattern Training

Join this all-day intensive session to prepare your program for the changes to the Child and Adult Care Food Program meal pattern that will take effect October 1, 2017. We will discuss the updated changes to the meal pattern in depth with hands on activities and recipes to prepare you for the implementation of the new meal pattern. The training will be held in-person at our office in Barre. The trainings will be from 9:00 am ~ 3:30 pm, and participants will earn 6 hours of continuing education credits. You will be on your own for lunch from 12 until 12:45. This training is free!

Governor’s Statewide School Safety Training Conference - FULL

Education Secretary Holcombe and Public Safety Commissioner Anderson are pleased to announce the Governor’s Statewide School Safety Training Conference to be held on November 30, 2017 at the Sheraton, Burlington, VT. The all-day conference is designed to inform participants of the best and promising practices in school emergency preparedness. Schools are strongly encouraged to attend this conference with their local emergency management officials and emergency first responders to build or enhance their school crisis planning capacity. This conference will provide educational tracks that will include but are not limited to: managing the media and crisis communication, how to conduct an effective school safety exercise, the impacts of trauma after a critical incident, tactical emergency medicine and much more.
