Data Collection and Survey

VTmtss Survey

Act 117 - VSA Title 16, Section 2904, requires that each superintendent shall annually provide to the Vermont Secretary of Education the status of the educational support systems in each school in the supervisory union; how it is funded, and how building the capacity of the educational support system is addressed in the School's Continuous Improvement Plan.

This data collection is a school-level survey completed by a principal. This year's data collection period will be open May 1 - May 31, 2024.

Most questions in this year’s survey are new, providing baseline data to build upon in future school years. This year’s survey aims to measure how VT principals are incorporating VTmtss systemic and comprehensive approaches to enhancing academic, behavioral and social-emotional outcomes for all students. We recognize some of the data is open to interpretation by respondents, so links are provided throughout the Survey report to provide resources and information pertaining to each indicator. This year’s data, collected from 278 VT K-12 public school principals, highlights a variety of essential systems-based best practices aligned with the levers of Act 173 (2018), the VTmtss Framework, and suggestions from the Expanding and Strengthening Best Practice Supports for Students Who Struggle (2018). Thank you to those completing the Survey, as you ensured that pertinent data is available for deciding improvements in education for all students.
