About Us

Statement of Purpose

The Agency of Education implements state and federal laws, policies, and regulations to ensure all Vermont learners have equitable access to high-quality learning opportunities. The Agency accomplishes this mission through the provision of its leadership, support, and oversight of Vermont’s public education system.

AOE Policy Work Plan

The AOE Policy Work Plan is a basic Gantt chart that shows the timelines for major Agency deliverables related to implementing policies and initiatives established by the General Assembly or that are otherwise required by law or regulation. The plan is not meant to be a complete description of all Agency work, but rather a summary with timelines for the major projects required to implement education policy.

The intent of the Work Plan is to improve communications with stakeholders about policy deliverables. Many current education policies (e.g. Act 46, Act 173, and School Snapshot) are complex and far reaching in their impact. Implementing such policies requires the close coordination of Agency resources with a frequent review and shifting of priorities. The AOE Policy Work Plan will be updated regularly to capture these adjustments. Major changes to the Work Plan will be communicated through a formal media release.
