Adult Education and Literacy Grant Applicant Workshop

Under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, Title II, the Vermont Agency of Education requests applications from eligible organizations and entities to implement Adult Education and Literacy activities in Vermont during the July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2025 grant period. Applicant workshops will be held virtually on February 22, 2023 (2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.) and March 10, 2023 (10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.). Interested parties only need to attend one workshop because the content presented will be the same. Attending a workshop is not a requirement.

Please RSVP by emailing Miranda Scott at miranda.scott@vermont.gov. You will be sent a link to the virtual Microsoft Teams meeting for your chosen workshop.

This funding opportunity seeks one or more local providers of Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) services to carry out the purposes of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), Title II (Section 202). AEL services include: math, reading, and writing skills instruction, English language instruction for speakers of other languages, and transition to college and work. The competition will open in early 2020 for the July 1, 2020-June 30, 2022 grant period. Applicant workshops will be held on February 7th and 28th to present key information and address questions from participants.

Applicants may attend one or both workshops.

Homeless Education Grant for FY 18

Purpose:  To ensure that children and youth experiencing homelessness have equal access to the same free, appropriate public education, including public preschool education, provided to other children and youth with the opportunity to meet the same challenging state content and state student performance standards to which all students are held. McKinney-Vento requires the removal of barriers to the enrollment, attendance, and success in school of homeless children and youth.

Minimum Grant Request: $5,000

Maximum Amount per LEA: $20,000

Administrative Costs: Up to 5% of grant total

Individual or Consortium Application: The Agency of Education (AOE) will accept applications from individual LEAs or a consortium of LEAs. If applying for a consortium grant, the amount the consortium requests cannot exceed $20,000 per LEA member.

Grant Period: July 1, 2017 – June 30, 2018
