Understanding the NGSS and Building Systems and Sequences (Newport)

Audience: Principals, Curriculum Coordinators, Teacher Leaders

Location: North Country Supervisory Union, Newport, VT

Understanding the NGSS and Building Systems and Sequences will dive into how to read the Next Generation Science Standards, what resources are available to help unpack the standards and offer models of scopes and sequences, K-12, K-5, middle school and high school. Building Proficiency Scales will build on the first workshop and participants will be unpacking standards, and building proficiency scales for different granular sizes; classroom, activity and PBGRs. Teaching Strategies GOLD Introductory Training (Montpelier - Day Two)

Dates: December 1, 2018 and December 8, 2018

Location: Capitol Plaza, Montpelier, VT

Introductory trainings are appropriate for new Teaching Strategies GOLD users.  Discover how to make the most of MyTeachingStrategies™ as you explore the Teach, Assess, Develop, Report, and Family areas. Learn to address the objectives for development and learning, conduct objective observations of children, determine what children know and can do, and use assessment information to plan developmentally appropriate experiences. Participants are expected to attend both days of the training from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Please note: The minimum number of participants for trainings is 15 and the maximum is 20. Building Proficiency Scales (South Burlington)

Audience: Math Teachers, Coaches, Math Instructional Leaders, Principals, Special Educators, District Leaders, and teams from sites participating in the State Systemic Improvement Plan (SSIP)

This EdCamp-style professional learning series is being offered to teams of VT educators who have a role in designing and implementing math instruction. This year's focus is building capacity to implement evidence-based mathematics instruction (core instruction and additional supports) that is responsive to the needs of ALL students. There will not be a fee for these sessions, and registration will be available soon.

Work-Based Learning Series

Work-Based Learning Coordinator’s professional learning series for SY18-19, is now open. The goal of this collaborative is to ensure schools create equitable, accessible, robust work-based learning experiences for all Vermont students. This three day series will focus is on Alignment, Assessment, and Communication. We encourage WBL Coordinators and educators to attend each session with at least one team member. The first session will take place on Thursday, November 1st at Vermont Technical College, Randolph, VT. Cost for this three-day series is $125.00 per person and includes breakfast and lunch. Please register with payment by October 29th.
