Classroom Assessment Scoring System K-3 Observation Training
Audience: Administrators, Assessment Coordinators, Program Directors
The Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) is an assessment tool that measures the interactions in a classroom, which are essential indicators of learning outcomes. It is recommended by the Vermont Agency of Education and is widely used nationally. Prepare to fairly and accurately observe and code classrooms by attending this free two-day training, the first step in earning your CLASS observer certification. Training for Members of Educational Support Teams
Audience: Superintendents, Principals, Members of School-Based Education Support Teams (EST) or Targeted Teams
This is a two-day training opportunity for schools and is sponsored by The Vermont Freemasons, The Vermont Agency of Education, and Vermont Department of Health, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Programs. This training is designed to provide strategies for improved and efficient functioning of a school’s Educational Support Team or Targeted Team within a multi-tiered system of supports. This workshop builds educators' skills in identifying at-risk students and providing appropriate supports. The training will be held in March at two locations. No cost to participants. Young Vermonters Invited to the Governor's Institutes of Vermont for Winter Weekend

Calling all enthusiastic and passionate Vermont 9-12 graders to join us for a fun and intensive GIV Winter Weekend this February at Goddard College. These two hands-on residential weekends give high school students the chance to explore a topic in-depth, make new friends, and experience life on a college campus. Ten program choices span science, visual and performing arts, law, engineering, entrepreneurship and more. Help teens build their brightest futures by encouraging them to try out GIV Winter Weekends. Applications are now open, and session space is limited.

Building a Framework for Effective Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment
Registration is now open for a foundational-level clinical training, Building a Framework for Effective Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment. This training is aimed at clinical professionals who are just beginning to do substance abuse treatment work with adolescent populations. It may not be as relevant to those who already have an adolescent specialty. This training opportunity is fully funded by the Vermont Youth Treatment Enhancement Program at ADAP and CEUs are offered. The training will take place on January 6, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Vermont Department of Health, 108 Cherry St, Burlington, in Conference Room 2B. Snow date January 27, 2017. One Credit Online Graduate Course - Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug (ATOD) Education
This online course is offered as one of a series of courses by the Vermont Education Collaborative toward health education endorsement. Students taking the course for credit and successfully complete the course will receive one graduate credit through Union Institute and University. This course is offered so that teachers and health and guidance personnel have a sufficient level of professional development to enable them to competently teach or provide other services required in the school's ATOD prevention education program. A Model for Managing Anxiety and Improving Social Understanding
This six-hour workshop takes an in-depth look at current specific strategies and activities designed to improve interpersonal communication and self-management skills. Participants will be provided with additional concentrated exploration of an individual methodology associated with social and emotional learning. This course occurs on January 18, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This class is also available via distance learning through GoToWebinar. Grant underwriting is available through the Cynthia K.
