Licensing Updates - 2018 Renewals
Audience: Vermont Educators
Vermont educators, please update your online profile to ensure proper processing of your renewal application. Currently, there are 1,068 educators whose license is expiring on June 30, 2018 who do not have employment details in their profile. Without current employment details, the application will be routed to the AOE for processing, not your Local or Regional Standards Board. This could cause a significant delay in you receiving your license which may have an impact on your employment for the 2018-19 school year. Additionally, there are 115 educators whose license is expiring and there is no email contact information in the profile. To receive notification regarding renewals or other licensing correspondence a current email is needed.

Audience: Superintendents, Holders of Provisional and Apprenticeship Licenses Expiring on June 30, 2018
If your Provisional or Apprenticeship license is expiring on June 30, 2018 it is imperative that you apply for an initial license or added endorsement by April 1, 2018. Please review the memo regarding timelines and information on the application process.

Annual Adverse Effect Training Documentation
Audience: Special Education Administrators
Please use the annual adverse effect training documentation form to submit. Remember that this annual training is mandatory for all new special education staff in each supervisory union/school district. This year's deadline is December 15, 2017.

State Board of Education Adopts Updated Technology Standards for Students
Audience: All
At its November meeting, the Vermont State Board of Education unanimously adopted the International Standards for Technology Education (ISTE) Standards for student learning. Middle Grades Conference
Please join the Middle Grades Collaborative (MGC) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on January 27, 2018 at the University of Vermont for a state-wide conference showcasing effective middle grades practice. This year's theme is "Middle School Is Not a Building: What Does It Mean Today?" There is no fee to attend, and lunch will be provided. Also, the MGC welcomes presentation proposals from teacher educators, teachers, student groups, and professional organizations that focus on research and/or practice of middle grades teaching and learning related to the conference theme. Register for the Middle Grades Conference. The deadline for registration is December 15, 2017.
