Audience: Pathway (D) Participants, New teachers to the State, Newly Licensed Teachers and Graduates, Special Education Endorsement Candidates, General Education Teachers, High School Special Education Teachers, Educational Support Teams (EST) Members, Evaluation Team Members, Related Service Providers, Interventionists

Purpose: All students are served within a system of support. This model is known as the Vermont Multi-tiered Systems of Support (VTmtss) Framework in Vermont schools. This session will provide an overview of the VTmtss Framework and its components. We will explore effective collaboration across general and special education teams as part of student support planning. Lastly, we will identify key points of student data that will assist the initial special education evaluation.

Title: McKinney-Vento 101: School Selection and Best Interest Determinations

Date: Sept. 5, 2024

Time: 1-2 p.m.

Audience: Homeless Liaisons

Description: This session will focus on the rights of students experiencing homelessness around school selection and how LEAs can support school stability, as well as the process and requirements for making best interest determinations.

Title: McKinney-Vento 101: Eligibility and Dispute Resolution

Date: Sept. 4, 2024

Time: 1-2 p.m.

Audience: Homeless Liaisons

Description: This session will take a deeper dive into the McKinney-Vento definition of homelessness, the role of liaisons in making determinations, and strategies for identifying students experiencing homelessness and making eligibility determinations. We will also review the dispute resolution process, the rights of students experiencing homelessness during a dispute, LEA requirements, and best practices.

Date: Sept. 3, 2024

Audience: Homeless Liaisons

Description: This session will provide a high-level overview of the McKinney-Vento Act, including the rights of students experiencing homelessness and the requirements of LEAs under the McKinney-Vento Act. We will also review the role and duties of the homeless liaison, data reporting requirements under McKinney-Vento, and funding to support students experiencing homelessness.

Title: WIDA Assessment Training

 Audience: WIDA District Test Coordinators and WIDA Test Administrators

Description: In this session, we’ll review changes to the WIDA Assessment this year, and requirements for Test Coordinators and Administrators. There will also be time for questions and clarification.
